Duties: Constables are constitutionally authorized peace officers. They may perform patrol
functions and make criminal investigations, but the main duty of most Constables is as
executive officer for the Justice of the Peace courts. Constables
serve subpoenas, civil citations and other papers for the JP courts. The importance
of the Constable's office varies from county to county, primarily depending on population.
There may be as many as eight Constables in a county. Constables are elected every four
years by voters within each Justice of the Peace precinct.
The office of Comal County Constables are
located in the same buildings as the Justices of the Peace. Directions to each office are
given below.
The Constable for Precinct 1
From New Braunfels, take Hwy. 46 approximately three miles to 145 David Jones Drive.
The Constable in Precinct 2
From New Braunfels, take Hwy. 46 to FM 1863. Head west, crossing Hwy. 281 into Bulverde
(approximately 18 miles). From San Antonio, take Hwy. 281 north to FM 1863. Head west into
Bulverde.
The Constable for Precinct 3
Take Ruekle Road exit off I-35. Ruekle Road is also known as Loop 337. Go north on Loop
337 to West San Antonio Street. Turn right on West San Antonio, go one block. The building

The Constable in Precinct 4
Take 1-35 to FM 306 (exit #191). Go north on FM 306 to FM 2673(about 13 miles). Travel on FM 2673 approximately one mile to traffic light at River Road and turn left. Turn right at the first street (Sattler Rd). Turn left at the first street (Oak Dr).
