Mission:

The purpose of this section is to baseline the current operating environment within Comal County Information Technology (CCIT).  CCIT serves as an "enabler" to County government representing its citizens.  The services CCIT provides to the County are information management and technology.  This baseline is critical to the strategic planning process because it serves as the framework in which to integrate the County's future information and technology needs into existing infrastructures.  This section is divided into four main processes encompass what we do.  Three processes directly support County customers while the fourth serves customers internal to CCIT.  The processes that directly support Comal County customers are:

• Technology Infrastructure: Consists of desktop computers, networks, telecommunications systems and mainframe computers--all hardware related. 

• Information Infrastructure: Consists of actual information that resides or is transported via the technology infrastructure, and includes database mainframe software, systems development and Internet applications--all "data" and software related.

• Life-cycle Infrastructure: Includes needs assessment, analysis, operations and maintenance (hardware and software), partner support, and business assessment.

 

Each of these processes provides a valued outcome directly to the offices of Comal County elected and appointed officials by delivering information services to them.  Together, they form an interrelated triad that is linked by Business Management Infrastructure.  The management infrastructure consists of employee support, personnel support, budget and other administrative and managerial processes.
