Operator (Road Department)

JOB SUMMARY:           Under general supervision, performs both routine and skilled heavy physical work related road construction and maintenance tasks; operates a variety of vehicles, equipment and hand and power tools; will have contact with the public; must be able to perform strenuous work in the outdoors under all weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:         High school diploma or GED; experience in roadway maintenance and construction related work preferred. Must be able to read & understand material safety data sheets for chemicals used as part of job; as well as applicable safety rules & regulations; Class B Commercial Driver’s License must be obtained within 30 days of hire; pass a drug screen, physical exam and background check; insurable by Comal County Insurance Co in order to operate County vehicles; provide copy of driving record (3 year history) from DPS prior to the first day of hire.
