Mission:
The Comal County Purchasing Department was established by Article 262.011 of the Local Government Code. The purchasing agent is appointed for a two-year term by a board which includes the District Judges and the County Judge.

Duties:
The Comal County purchasing agent is required to adopt rules and procedures necessary to implement his/her duties subject to approval by the Commissioners Court. These duties include purchasing all supplies, materials and equipment required for the County. The Purchasing Agent also provides assistance to County Departments in securing the best goods and services in the most economical and efficient way and handling all purchases in a manner ensuring competition between potential vendors and contractors.

A person other than the County Purchasing Agent may not purchase supplies, materials, equipment or make contracts for repairs.

Unless otherwise stated in the specifications, bids will be presented during Commissioners' Court on a Thursday following bid closing dates at 10:00am. Vendors are welcome (but not required) to attend presentations.
