GUARDIAN ANGEL AWARD CREATED
 

New Award honors volunteers, non-profit agency partners,law enforcement and child protective services workers

New Braunfels - January 21, 2009: Commissioner Greg Parker announced today the creation of the Guardian Angel Award. This award will honor volunteers, non-profit agency partners as well as law enforcement and child protective services workers that assist in preventing child abuse and neglect and or work to strengthen families. “This is a wonderful way to show we care“, said Parker. “To show our support for those that protect our children and work to improve our families.

2009 Guardian Angel Award Categories, nomination form, and worksheet

 

The award will feature three different categories in which to nominate individuals. The Guardian Angel Volunteer of the Year Award, for those that have at least 6 months or more volunteer (non-paid) work with a non-profit agency; the Guardian Angel Agency Member of the Year Award, for those that have at least one year or more work (non-paid or paid) within the law enforcement, District Attorney’s Office and or Child Protective Services agencies; and the Guardian Angel Longevity Award, for those who have at least 8 years or more (non-paid or paid) work with a non-profit, and or law enforcement, District Attorney’s Office or Child Protective Services agencies

Nominations may be submitted from February 1, 2009 – March 6, 2009. Awards will be given at the annual Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month Kick off Event on April 3, 2009.

Nominees can be individuals that volunteer or work for agencies that operate in Comal, Hays or Guadalupe counties. Commissioner Parker plans to expand the award nominations pool to include other counties such as Kendall, Bandera and Wilson counties in 2010. “There are plans to expand the pool of nominees to encompass other counties” Parker said. “Several of the agencies support more that one county, so I feel we need to recognize those individuals as well. There are Guardian Angels everywhere.”
