Energy & Natural Resources

Comal County has 575 square miles of some of the most beautiful land, lakes and rivers in the State of Texas. That’s why I am firm believer that we should be good stewards of our county natural resources and not let our county become only rooftops and pavement. Further, at a national level I have spoken out on energy issues because I believe that the real goal should be to balance and blend the responsible utilization of energy resources while maintaining a strong vibrant economy and protecting private property rights, not protecting ideology.

The fact is any comprehensive energy plan must utilize all of the tools in the states energy toolbox, wind, solar, nuclear, domestic oil, natural gas, and yes, even COAL.

“…the real goal should be to balance and blend the responsible utilization of energy resources while maintaining a strong vibrant economy and protecting private property rights, not protecting a debatable ideology” ~ Commissioner Gregory Parker.

In the past I have stated that I believe in the promise of a bright and balanced energy future for Texas powered by abundant resources and driven by Texas pride and ingenuity. My belief remains steadfast however lurking on the horizon is H.R. 2454 the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 known as Cap and Trade. Cap and Trade is a creation of lawmakers based on a lie and a flawed understanding of the connections between carbon-dioxide emissions and climate change that could be a major blow to Texans. Wanting to be good stewards of our county’s resources and a eye for cost saving Comal County Commissioner Court embarked of a review and analyze the counties vehicle fleet. The purpose was to provide a framework of possible options to lower the county’s fleet fuel costs, reduce both the toxins and carcinogens or a “Comal County’s Clean Fleet Strategy” if you will. On December 18, 2003 Comal County Commissioners passed resolution number 2003-88 setting in motion the county’s Electricity Reduction Plan at county facilities. To see the report click here.

With the ascension of the Liberal and Progressive stranglehold of our government in both Houses of congress middle class Americans find themselves under siege by a campaign of misinformation and misguided laws.  Global warming rhetoric has hit a crescendo and conscientious Americans no longer know who to trust.  My objective and mission is to find out the truth and make sure the public understands the realities, not the lies and misinformation presented by a political agenda.
