LIVING LEGENDS DAY

WHEREAS, the Braunfels Foundation Trust has named Roxolin Krueger as a New Braunfels 2008 Living Legend; and

WHEREAS, Roxolin Marie Bose Krueger is a native of New Braunfels, Texas, and married to Doyle Krueger in 1953, another "Living Legend" Honoree of 2002. They have two children, Steven Krueger of Dallas, Texas, and Katherine Krueger Stripling of Marble Falls, and six grandchildren.

Roxolin was graduated from New Braunfels High School and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Management of Vocational and Technical Education from Southwest Texas State University in 1980. After teaching vocational courses at New Braunfels High School for 22 years, Roxolin retired in 1993. She also earned a Texas Real Estate Salesman’s License in 1970.

Involvement in the community has always held Roxolin’s interest. She was the founding President of Republican Women of Comal County in 1964 and served on the Comal County Republican Executive Committee from 1967 to 1974.

Roxolin has been a long-time supporter of the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, earning her Blue Coat in 1972 and serving as their first woman Chair of the Board in 1979.

She served as Advisory Director for J.P. Morgan Chase from 1980 to 2004; on the Arts and Cultural Commission in 1982; was the Founding President of the Heritage Society in 1985; President of the Texas Junior Miss Board in 1986; and in 1994, she served as President of the Comal County Unit of the American Cancer Society Board.

Roxolin has co-hosted the "Reflections" program on Radio Station KGNB since 1999. She is a book reviewer for Elderhostel Tours and co-authored, "Oma, Tell Me About Olden Times," a history book about the Gruene family.

Roxolin has achieved many awards through the years, including the Besserung Award for Citizen of the Year in 1985; the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Hall of Honor Award in 1988 and the President’s Award in 1972. She also was given the Silver Unicorn Award in 1995 and Distinguished Alumnus Award for the New Braunfels Independent School District Education Foundation in 2004.

Roxolin is also a member of the Sophienburg Museum and Archives, Conservation Society, Senior Citizens of Comal County, First Protestant Church, Retired Teachers Association, Republican Women of Comal County, Heritage Society, and is on the Development Council of McKenna Legacy Foundation.

Roxolin enjoys spending time with her grandchildren as well as swimming, bridge club, reading, and time away at the family’s vacation home.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Commissioners Court of Comal County, duly convened and acting in its capacity as the governing body of Comal County, does hereby name October 28, 2008 as "Living Legends Day" in Comal County and recognizes Roxolin Krueger as an individual who has truly made a difference in Comal County.
