Comal County, Texas

WHEREAS, domestic violence is a great evil and an offense against human dignity. Where it occurs, homes are transformed into places of danger and despair; and

WHEREAS, October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and this year the theme, "ALL AGES, ALL STAGES", is meant to encompass the needs of all victims of violence in the home, including men, teens, and children, as well as women; and

WHEREAS, people of all ages and in all stages of their lives are victims of domestic violence, and the Comal County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with agencies such as the Crisis Center, emergency medical response, and the judicial system so that victims can step out of the shadows and get the help and care they need; and

WHEREAS, by working together we continue building a society that respects the life and dignity of every person, offering relief from abuse, bringing hope, healing, and dignity to those affected, and punishing the perpetrators of this despicable crime; and

WHEREAS, working together we can find better solutions to this national problem.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Commissioners’ Court of Comal County, duly convened and acting in its capacity as the governing body of Comal County, does hereby proclaim the month of October 2006 as "Domestic Violence Awareness Month" in Comal County and urge all citizens to observe this month by becoming aware of the tragedy of domestic violence, and support those who are working toward its end.
