Proclamation - Recognizing the Week of February 3-9, 2008 as "Food Check-Out Week in Comal County"

WHEREAS, food in America is a rare combination of exceptional quality and inexpensive price, and the average American works about 37 days of each year to earn enough income to buy food for the entire year; and

WHEREAS, farmers, ranchers and workers in American agribusiness have combined their efforts to ensure that food is one of the great bargains in our nation; and

WHEREAS, agriculture is important to our county, state and nation, and because average Americans will have earned enough to purchase an entire year’s food supply by February 6, 2008;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Commissioners’ Court of Comal County, duly convened and acting in its capacity as the governing body of Comal County, does hereby recognize February 3-19, 2008 as "Food Check-Out Week" and urges our citizens to give due recognition to this notable event.

PASSED AND APPROVED this the 7^th day of February 2008.
