Proclamation - Living Legends Day - Carroll Udo Hoffmann

Proclamation

LIVING LEGENDS DAY - October 12, 2006

WHEREAS, the New Braunfels Foundation Trust has named Carroll Udo Hoffmann as a New Braunfels’ Living Legend; and

WHEREAS, Carroll Udo Hoffman graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1951, where he was Drum Major of the NBHS Band, and attended the University of Texas. After earning a "four-year degree in salesmanship" at Arlon Krueger Motor Company, he began a successful career in the insurance business. Hoffmann has been the President of the San Antonio Life Underwriters and Financial Planners and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table since 1964. He began to "give back to his community" by his involvement in New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President in 1972, earned a Blue Coat in 1966, received the Besserung Award in 1975, and recognized in the Hall of Honor in 1986. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America, Sophienburg Museum and Archives, Conservation Society, Museum of Handmade Furniture, and the Rotary Club, where he had perfect attendance for 42 years. Hoffmann participated in the Wurstfest Association where he was President in 1983, Grossa Opa in 1987, and is now Opa Emeitus. He served on the Edwards Underground Water Board for ten years, and is currently on the Eden Home Board. The New Braunfels Independent School District awarded Hoffmann the prestigious "Silver Unicorn" award, and in 2005 the NBISD Education Foundation named him Distinguished Alumnus of NBISD. Carroll Hoffmann’s greatest skill is his ability to raise funds. He raised funds for the Historic Oak in Landa Park, the Mill Street Education Building Restoration, the 1976 National Sesquicentennial celebration, Sophienburg Museum Capital Fund Drive, and the Chambers "Forward New Braunfels" since renamed The New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation. His contributions are invaluable to the quality of life in New Braunfels.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Commissioners’ Court of Comal

County, duly convened and acting in its capacity as the governing body of Comal County, does hereby name October 12, 2006 as "Living Legends Day" in Comal County and recognizes Carroll Udo Hoffmann as an individual who has truly made a difference in Comal County.

PASSED AND APPROVED this the 12th day of October 2006.
