Inmate Mail Rules

INMATE MAIL - PROHIBITED ITEMS

  • Cash money, payroll checks, personal checks
  • Stamps, envelopes, stickers, address labels (including on envelope), pens and pencils
  • Blank paper, blank cards, plastic, paper bag or brown paper, paper with heading only, hard paper, blank postcards, tissue paper, cardboard, black crayon paper, calendar, magnets, plastic bags
  • Musical cards, card with men or women undergarments, plastic greeting,/credit/license or phone cards of any kind, sexual explicit type materials or context
  • Hard plastic bookmarkers, calendar or planner, no more than 5 pictures (total to inmate per incarceration) and no larger than 5x7, computer generated pictures, no Polaroid, pictures with any type of coating, no multiple pictures on one picture
  • Clippings/copies from books/magazines/newspapers, coloring book pages, menu
  • Cloth/felt, leather of any kind, drier sheets, envelopes that smell of perfume or cologne
  • Button, metal/wood/foil, pipe cleaners, dried plants/flowers
  • Drawings/photos/writings illustrating gang signs/activity, posters, booklets, strings/ribbons, any spiral binder, anything from the internet is not allowed (www. Etc), any type of drawings/pictures that could be used for tattooing
  • Folders or binders of any kind (empty or filled), blank index cards
  • Paperclips/staples, glitter/confetti, audio/videotapes, maps, and similar unauthorized items, glass, picture frames, foam items
  • Candy wrappers, wax or wax seal, or wax design, laminated items, lipstick
  • Jewelry, necklaces, charms, bracelets, earrings, etc.
  • Cards with any movable parts, goggle eyes, pop outs or larger than 5x7,single layered cards only (no additional layers)
  • Rub on Tattoos, Plastic decals, lottery tickets
  • Taped on or glue on products (labels, pictures, etc.)
  • Posters of any size, trading cars, fabric crafted items
  • Post It Notepaper, napkin
  • Clothing through the mail is not allowed must come off of commissary
  • Mail containing potentially hazardous/contaminated items
  • Weapons of any type
  • Defensive sprays, matches/stickers, tobacco/drugs, caustics/combustibles
  • Gel ink of any kind, paint/finger-paints/crayons
  • Nail Polish, whiteout liquid, whiteout tape, burned paper
  • Blood, hair, body fluids/food stains, food products, religious powders/liquids
  • Games (dominoes, playing cards, etc.), games/activities (puzzles, soduko) written or printed
  • Mail containing commissary items (such as toothpaste, razors, toothbrush, soap, etc.)
  • Tape of any kind on mail or envelopes (with the exception of securing the closed envelope)
  • No Inmate to Inmate mail will be accepted or mailed from this facility or any other institution unless prior approval is made with Jail Administration
  • No books will be allowed through the mail
  • Newspapers from San Antonio ,Austin American Statesman, USA Today only
  • No magazines will be allowed though the mail
  • No third party mail will be allowed
  • No Inmate to Inmate mail will be accepted or mailed from this facility or any other institution unless prior approval is made with Jail Administration
