GIS "How To"
The Comal County GIS has 3 main parts: the Toolbar on the left, the main display area in the center, and the Table of Contents on the right.
The most commonly used buttons in the Toolbar (as depicted below) allow you to: "zoom in" to an area by left-clicking the mouse and drawing a square or rectangle around the area you'd like to see enlarged,
"zoom out" from an area, "zoom" to the full map view, "pan" to another area, identify an object on the map by clicking the "Identify" button and then clicking on an object, and to locate an address on
the map by clicking the "Locate" button and entering an address to display on the map.
The Table of Contents - labeled "LAYERS", allows you to choose what layers you would like displayed on the map. To display a layer, you simply check the box next to that layer. Most layers are nested within category folders.
You can click on a "file folder" to display the contents and check the box next to the layer you would like to see.
