Justice of the Peace #2 - Drivers Safety Course

Driving Safety Course - YOU MUST REQUEST THIS OPTION FROM THE COURT BEFORE TAKING THE COURSE.

If you are interested in taking a Driving Safety Course to have your citation dismissed, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You must have a valid Texas driver’s license that is not a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or be active duty military personnel, including spouses and dependent children, with a current, valid military ID
  2. You must have motor vehicle insurance with your name on the policy (i.e., the insurance policy cannot be a corporate insurance or fleet insurance policy; your name must appear on the proof statement as an individually insured driver on the policy)
  3. You may NOT have taken a DSC within the previous 12 months from the date of issue of your citation
  4. The violation was not committed in a construction zone when workers were present
  5. Alleged speed cannot be 25 miles per hour or more over the posted speed limit
  6. If you are cited for passing a school bus you cannot take a Drivers Safety Course

If you pay your fee online, you MUST still provide the court with the request form, proof of liability insurance, and a copy of your driver's license
